The company uses machine learning and pattern detection to help retailers identify inventory accuracy, out-of-stock, and pricing discrepancies. Their clients see a 2-5% boost in sales and a 10-15 basis points margin improvement within six months.

The Profitect Mobile Field Application gives retailers at every level, from head office to store employees, real-time insights into store performance. Users can capture notes, images, and videos for further investigation. The app also allows barcode scanning for instant access to product KPIs and integrates social media data for sentiment analysis.

Well-known brands like Sobeys, Stop & Shop, and ASDA rely on the company’s solution. Now, Profitect is a part of Zebra Technologies and is Zebra’s premiere Prescriptive Analytics solution (ZPA).

Why did Profitect Come to DOIT?

Profitect was dissatisfied with the design of their iPad and Android apps. On top of that, they didn’t have an iOS version, which limited their reach and caused inconsistencies across platforms. Profitect needed a team that could improve the design, develop custom features, and build an iOS app from scratch.

Later, after being acquired by Zebra Technologies, Profitect required further help to transition from native app development to a cross-platform solution with Flutter. They needed developers to manage this shift while retaining the app’s core features. With this urgency in mind, Profitect turned to DOIT for IT staff augmentation services.

DOIT Staff Augmentation Solutions for Profitect

To address Profitect’s challenges, DOIT developed a tailored IT staff augmentation solution that provided the right expertise at every project stage. Here’s how it went down:

 

Step 1: Talent Requirements Analysis

DOIT Software began by analyzing the Profitect’s needs to understand the technical and operational gaps. Initially, the client required a UI/UX designer and native mobile developers for their iOS and Android apps. They needed professionals with experience in creating custom offline modes and charts, as well as working with real-time data. Requirements also included localization and specific database handling.

 

The DOIT team held initial consultations with Profitect’s product manager and CTO to gather insights into their workflow and team structure. This way, IT recruiters identified the technical expertise required to match both design changes and new developments.

 

Step 2: Shortlisting Candidates

Once DOIT established the requirements, the Talent Manager moved to source candidates from our pre-vetted pool. We aimed to find developers with deep expertise in Swift (iOS) and Kotlin (Android). DOIT checked an average of 57 candidates per role based on their technical skills and project experience.

 

The process involved personal interviews, background checks, and technical tests. DOIT also assessed their cultural fit, including communication skills, level of English proficiency, and ability to integrate with Profitect’s internal team.

 

Step 3: Interview and Selection

Together with Profitect’s CTO and Project Manager, DOIT conducted a set of interviews with the shortlisted candidates. Within 12 days, Talent Manager completed the final interviews, and Profitect selected 7 core specialists:

 

 

Step 4: Integration into the Profitect Team

Post-selection, we ensured a seamless onboarding process. DOIT provided dedicated support to integrate the developers into Profitect’s internal workflows.

 

The project coordinator managed the integration process, handling all communication between Profitect’s existing team and new specialists. Sprint planning, feature prioritization, and regular feedback loops ensured the client and developers were aligned throughout the project.

Next Steps in Cooperation: Transition to Cross-Platform

As Profitect evolved under Zebra’s product suite, they faced a new challenge: shift from a native to a cross-platform solution. The company re-reached out to DOIT to hire Flutter developers who could manage this complex change. IT recruiters focused on candidates who not only had technical expertise but also had experience in managing app transitions like this.

DOIT added a new Flutter developer to the team and retained an existing Android developer who managed to become a lead of mobile development.
