About the Client

The client is a software development company from Norway working on Headache Calendar MVP – a cutting-edge mobile application designed to empower individuals to track and manage their headaches, migraines, and related health issues. Their main idea was to create an app diary where patients could easily fill in everyday records and share them with their doctors. Based on the collected data, doctors can provide more accurate migraine headache treatment.

The Challenge

The client needed to build the first version of the migraine-tracking app, planned for use in real medical centers. The healthcare provider had already set the delivery timeline and expected to have the development started as soon as possible.

At that point, the service provider was still evaluating implementation options. To build an app for both iOS and Android and a web-based admin panel, they needed developers with relevant cross-platform experience, but hadn’t yet decided on the tech stack. Given the tight timeline, they didn’t have any room for trial-and-error hiring.

The client’s Managing Director chose DOIT for two simple reasons. First, to get fast access to the vetted talent pool for quick MVP delivery. Second, to receive expert guidance on defining the right tech requirements. The team decided to consult with DOIT’s senior engineers on the technologies suited for the project, and that’s how the collaboration began.

The Solution

After reviewing the client’s needs, our tech leads recommended focusing on Flutter for the mobile part. For the first release, it was essential to balance human and financial resources with enough functionality to validate the concept. Using Flutter made it possible to reduce the number of developers and keep the project within budget.

After confirming the stack, DOIT helped define the final skill requirements for each role and launched the search for candidates.

For the mobile app, DOIT shortlisted Flutter developers with experience in input forms and validation, local data storage, chart-based analytics, and Firebase Cloud Messaging notification systems.

For the admin panel development, DOIT focused on hiring full-stack engineers who could build the web interface with React and Node.js and connect features with third-party systems.

Since the client was collecting live feedback from real doctors during development, language fluency and strong communication skills were a must. Also, all candidates had to be comfortable working with non-technical feedback.

The Results

01

Initial consultation to first relevant CVs: 4 days

02

Total roles filled: 5 full-time specialists

When the client turned to DOIT Software, they highlighted the need to hire developers quickly to avoid project delays. We helped the product team streamline their recruitment efforts, cutting down the time required to source, vet, and onboard candidates by at least three weeks.

In total, DOIT filled five roles: Flutter developer, full-stack engineer (React + Node.js), UI/UX designer, QA specialist, and Project Manager. For most of these positions, we delivered the first shortlisted candidates within 3-5 days.

This approach reduced recruitment overhead and helped the client launch the first version of the app on schedule. The team stayed on to support feedback cycles and deliver live updates during the post-release phase. Today, the Headache Calendar is available in app stores and used by over 50k patients and doctors across medical centers in Norway.
